Organic compounds (VOC) which may be present in tap water normally boil off and
vapourize during the warm-up cycle and are vented into the air. If any VOC's
carry over with the distillate, they can be effectively removed with an
optional carbon filter. Carbon enhances taste and purity by absorbtion,
aeration and degasification.
Many ordinary tap waters contain virtually no or extremely low levels of VOC's. Most VOC's are measured in parts per billion and are virtually indetectable when vented during the distillation cycle.
Most quality countop, batch type distillers have coconut shell carbon post filtration( our distillers) to effectively remove VOC's.
Distillation process
Ordinary tap water is heated to 212 F degrees (100 C) killing microbes such as bacteria, cysts and viruses that may be present.
Steam rises leaving behind dead microbes, dissolved solids, salts,heavy metals and other substances.
Low boiling light gases are discharged through a gaseous vent.
Pure steam is condensed
Purified/distilled water then percolates through a coconut shell carbon filter , enhancing quality by aeration, degasification, and absorbtion of VOC's.
The 100% steam distilled water is now ready for drinking and cooking.
